Windows Wednesday (on Friday)

Being retired means not knowing what day of the week it is sometimes. That's what happened to me this week, but I DID remember to post my Windows Wednesday in the same week!

This picture has a myriad of windows, both old and new architectural styles. Featured on 610 Poydras Street is Bistreaux at the Bank, a creole inspired restaurant in an old Whitney Bank, with all of the over the top marble columns and floors.

Here are a few pictures my daughter - The Tiny Chef - shot. She works here part-time on weekends.

Scuzzbuckets of the Week

Texas State Representative Patricia Harless and husband Sam Harless are the owners of Fred Fincher Motors in Houston.

One of their employees is suing them because Sam Harless provided other employees with a Taser — and then filmed them sneaking up behind Jones and zapping him with the device at various times over nine months.

The lawsuit goes on to accuse the couple, as well as other employees, with assault and battery and “failure to provide a safe workplace.”

Sam Harless is interested in running for a Senate seat in Texas and I'm wondering if this is sour grapes or did it really happen? Until I hear different, Sam Harless and those moron employees who tased this man are Scuzzbuckets. But this video makes me think that Sam Harless and his employess are sick, sick people.

August

August is a mixed bag of emotions for me. My only child was born on 8/28/88. My daughter is the delight of my life, I am SO proud of her on so many levels.

She now lives 50 miles from me and my constant visits are teaching me the lay of the land of Jefferson, Louisiana.

August also brings back horrific memories of Katrina

What inspired this short post was a beautifully written post by my online friend Charlotte Hamrick at this link.

Please read and respond. She is very talented and I look up to her. Thanks!

Pray for a quiet August, y'all!!

HEY, WASHINGTON D.C.

'NUFF SAID.

Window Wednesday

Found this gem of a window in Olde Towne Slidell. It looks as if the designs are etched into the window. It's an old, dilapidated house. I'd love to have seen it in her prime.

Punish the Whistle Blowers

This almost feels like some thriller movie, but it is real life.

From the website , this video shows reactions to how an American soldier is treated like a rat for telling the truth about abominations happening in Iraq.

Manning was charged with 21 counts in connection with the leak of some 700,000 classified documents to the WikiLeaks website.

The most serious charge is “aiding the enemy.” which could carry a life sentence. The prosecution chose not to pursue capital punishment, which was an option.

It's amazing to see how our government gets bat shit paranoid over someone telling the truth (think Edward Snowden and Julian Assange)

In my opinion, these men did what they felt was the right things in their hearts, but they freaked out the U.S. Government, which is very paranoid about appearing complicit to the abominable actions they decided to commit.

I hope truth prevails, but I don't feel that it will. Someday, some way those that make dark, evil decisions will have to pay the price.

I would love to observe it, just as I observed the fall of Nixon.

Scuzzbucket of the Week

THIS is the face of a cold-blodded animal abuser.

Adrienne Martin, 35 years old, from St. Louis Missouri.

Martin chained a 3-year-old shepherd-terrier mix named Brownie on a short heavy chain and then set fire to his face and body. The dog belonged to her sister-in-law. Brownie apparently bit Martin's son, who had to go to the hospital for treatment. She initially denied setting the dog on fire, but later confessed to the crime.

This brilliant "human" even had the audacity of brag about what she did on her Facebook page .

I'm on killa mode .....#killdogs.com.....today..
she posted July 9. The posting was shared 36 times by animal advocates who called Martin “gross” and “sickening.”

The next day she posted
I mean what I say and I say what I mean....#alldogsdontgoheaven.com

“Brownie was helpless in escaping his abuser because he was anchored by a chain,” Stray Rescue said. “He later died.”

After the July 9 post, Martin returned to Facebook July 14 to respond to her critics. The St. Louis woman showed no remorse for her alleged behavior.

“MF's is killing me about this stupid dog ....keep it real...you didn't take care nor like or love the MF...on the TV str8 lies ...‪#‎laughingeveryday....stop b----..,” she wrote. That messaged was shared 31 times on Facebook.

She now faces felony animal abuse charges in Brownie’s death. Several websites are showing pictures of the murdered dog, but I can't even look at them, let alone share them.

Sickening.

Pelican Friday

Because there are SO many pelicans being located around Slidell, I decided to share more than one picture a week (and I forgot last week, no excuse).

This is "Honey Island Pete Pelican" by Len Heatherly. It is located on Gause Blvd. East in front of Dr. Jack Devereaux's office

This pretty bird is located right past Peck's Seafood on Gause East.

"Doctor Pelican" by Kenny Bridges sits ouside of Pelican Urgent Care also on
Gause Blvd East.

Slidell artist Adam Sambola created this tribute to New Orleans music. Entitled "Red Bean's Piano"
it's located at the Northshore Harbor Center right off the Eden Isles exit on I-10.

Here is an interactive map to the pelican locations throughout Slidell
