What would you do?
The Louisiana Attorney General is pursuing charges against a doctor and two nurses for " the second-degree murder of four unidentified patients" which brings the post Katrina emotional roller coaster ride back down the hill.
The alleged "murders" took place during the days after Katrina laid waste to New Orleans via the levee breaks. Several New Orleans' hospitals had critically ill patients which were not able to be evacuated.
Who the fuck is Foti to judge? I know, it's his job and all, but not one of us knows how we would react if put in the situation the doctors and nurses that stayed behind for Katrina were in.
If Foti and company succeed in prosecuting these people, will they go after FEMA, who stopped several rescue operations due to their inability to do their jobs?
Will they go after Kathleen Blanco for being an ineffective leader in times of crisis?
Will they go after Ray Nagin for the long list of mistakes he made, including the infamous flooded busses?
Good Lord, so many people died because of mistakes made. I don't see any good coming of this.
I'm sorry the people in the hospitals died, whatever the cause. But dragging this into the spotlight will only bring on or strengthen the rampant Katrina-related depression going on down here.
Go after the real criminals, Mr. Attorney General.

Wow. Despite all the doomsday things going on in this area, there's a few good things in the news.
granting up to $20 million dollars to repair the superdome.
The new Twin Spans project is being completely funded with Federal dollars.
The New Orleans east landfill on Chef Hwy will be closed down. Hooray for the citizens that worked so hard to kill this project!!!
Police have arrested the young man responsible for gunning down five teens in New Orleans last month. Isn't he a nice looking young man? Think his mom is proud of him?
Time for me to get my act together and head on down to Cajun Country. Bringing my baby girl to Thibodaux to check out the dorm rooms in Nicholls State University. sniff-sniff!!! My baby's going to the "Harvard on the Bayou". LOL!!!

Why did people vote for this ass????
I just caught word from one of my friends who works as a lobbyist in the Louisiana State Legislature of another gloriously stupid move made by Sugar Ray Nagin. He recently sent bags of Oreos to a handful of African-American politicians who supported Mitch Landrieu in the Mayoral election... including Karen Carter and Ann Duplessis among others.

I listened to an interview on WWL this morning with Jack Strain. He mentioned that there was a lot more said by him and that WDSU (Channel 6) just aired what they thought was "news worthy". Riiiight!!!!
I emailed WDSU this morning, asking the possiblility of getting a copy of the entire transcript of his interview. Here's their response:

Jack Stone, the Headquarters Operations Officer with the church called in WWL Radio this morning to set the record straight. He stated that there is no religious requirement in his church for dreadlocks, no kids ever showed up at their camp with dreadlocks and there is no metion of dreadlocks in the Church of Nazarene's manual and the ACLU should check their facts.
This smells like a set up to me. Next thing you know we'll be seeing the likes of these guys
Or perhaps they can use their communication skills to tell all these young men who are returning to the area to wreak havoc to straighten up their act and help rebuild or go back to where they came from.
No, I'm not a racist. I speak from the plain facts. My eyes are wide open. I live here.
Speaking of young men, the NOLA police have noted that there are plenty of underage kids being
picked up in the Quarter way after curfew. A lot of these kids came back to this area without their parents. Imagine that.

Some days just suck more than others

After Katrina and the levees devastated New Orleans, after we cried for a month, after we screamed out our anger at the government, a tiny light began to shine in the back of my mind....maybe, just maybe this is a chance for New Orleans to come back as a newer, cleaner, better place!! Out of a bad thing could come a good thing.
But no. Here's where the city is 10+ months post Katrina.
Glad I live in St. Tammany.

Our drought here in SE Louisiana is slowly waning. Rained all weekend for the fourth. We did manage to catch 5-Finger Discount Band at the Mandeville Seafood Fest. They sounded good as usual. After they played the skies opened up and we decided to make our way back to Slidell.
