The Disunited States Of America

 The Disunited States Of America

(found on Tribel.com)

When you follow current events fairly closely it’s really hard to completely understand what’s going on with America these days.

On the one hand, you have a government in place that won the last election by more than 7 million votes, which easily counts as a landslide.

And on the other hand you have millions of people who have been convinced by a man who has been proven time and again to be a charlatan that the election was rigged and that he actually won.

You have a government that’s doing all it can to control inflation brought about by the pandemic and a major war, helping people pay off student debt to help improve the economy, making drug prices affordable, expanding the health care system, pressuring oil companies to lower the cost of gasoline, fighting the obscenity of a total ban on abortion, and a whole host of other things that are good for the country. Yet this same bunch of people are convinced that their government is doing nothing for them.

You have a republican party that promises to undo all of the aforementioned as part of their platform and these same people don’t see that as one of the purer forms of political insanity.

I hate to break it to America but close to half the people in that country are completely out to lunch. They have become the albatross around the neck of the country, mainly because, like a broken record, they are stuck spouting the same wretched and totally false right wing talking points ad nauseam.

Looking at it from the outside, all I see is a huge divide, where one side is making sense and trying to move the country forward, and the other side is making no sense and simply complaining about everything the other side is doing.

It’s a very strange thing to see, and it’s not just me who is seeing it, it’s the entire rest of the world, who used to think that America was this great democracy, but now see it as being eroded from within, mostly by ignorance, hatred and greed.
