2009 New Orleans Jazz Fest Lineup

The 40th annual Jazz Fest is April 24-26 & April 30-May 3.

THis will be my first JAzz fest. Could you please let me know if the 40$ ticket being sold will cover all venues/concerts. Aren't their multiple concerts happening at different venues, and if so, will you be able to direct me to where I can find that schedule?

Tickets on Sale Now
Advance 2009 Jazz Fest tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com. Advance one day Jazz Fest tickets are $40 (they will be $50 at the gate). There are also premium VIP packages available. You can also buy advance tickets for the "Jazz Fest Express" shuttle service (recommended!) which runs from downtown New Orleans to the Fair Grounds (and back).

Jazz Fest After Dark
The music doesn't stop when Jazz Fest is over each day - grab a Red Bull and hit the local clubs for more great live music & special events.

Schedule Update:
Rock legend Neil Young has been added to the Jazz Fest line-up, replacing previously announced Aretha Franklin; Young and band perform on Sunday, May 3rd. Children's music group Imagination Movers have been added on Saturday, April 25th. See the day by day line-up of performers.

R.I.P. Eddie Bo
New Orleans has lost another legend with the passing of Eddie Bo on March 18, 2009. The late, great piano man was scheduled to play at Jazz Fest on April 26th and 30th, and also at the annual WWOZ Piano Night. For more info, see WWOZ web site; The Times-Picayune, AMG bio.

Louisiana Rock 'n' Roll Exhibit:
The Ponderosa Stomp will be presenting "Unsung Heroes: The Secret History of Louisiana Rock & Roll" beginning April 26th at The Louisiana State Museum at the historic Cabildo in New Orleans Jackson Square. The exhibit continues and expands the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation's mission to shine a light on the unsung heroes of American music. Read more here.

R.I.P. Snooks Eaglin
NOLA R&B legend Snooks Eaglin passed away on February 18th, at age 72, after suffering a heart attack; the guitar great was scheduled to perform at the '09 Jazz Fest on Sunday, May 3rd; see Times-Picayune; Louisiana Weekly; 1999 AMG bio.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation's 11th Annual Gala Fundraiser is scheduled for April 23rd.
