Turning Day
Light a rainbow candle today.
On this day, in 1954, Alan Turing took a bite of a cyanide-laced apple, and ended his journey on this planet. He died by suicide after being subjected to harmful treatment, forced on him for the crime of being gay. Turing was a manner-ignoring, gas-mask-wearing, marathon-running, Nazi-defeating frood. His work shortened WW2 by 2-4 years, saving millions of lives. Oh, and he also invented computers.
He was the hoopiest, nerdiest, quirkiest carachter history has given us, and we can only guess what humanity lost along with his lost years.
On his day of death he was 16 days away from turning 42.

He was also a runner: https://kottke.org/18/04/alan-turing-was-an-excellent-runner?fbclid=IwAR2i3Qr5fFI2kg6cjNpAk43-vNcqMZ3wnrZq-EN_gxqqNB0JuZxjEMOIHhc
